| list_budget_expense_categories | Returns the standard list of expense categories in WealthTools. Call this before recording or categorizing an expense so you can pick the best matching standard category (Housing, Transportation, Food & Dining, Utilities, Healthcare, Entertainment, Shopping, Personal Care, Education, Debt Payments, Savings, Investments, Other). |
| record_budget_expense | Records a new expense against a budget category, e.g. "I spent 20 bucks this week on eating out." The category field must match one of the standard expense categories — call list_budget_expense_categories if unsure which to use. If the user hasn't said what to call the expense, ask them before calling this tool. Returns the category's and budget's updated spent/remaining totals. |
