    The server address to paste into Claude settings:

    1. Open Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app).
    2. Go to Settings → Connectors.
    3. Click Add custom connector.
    4. Paste the server address copied below into Remote MCP server URL and click Add.
    5. In a chat, click + → Connectors and switch the new connector on.

    Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans (Free is limited to one). On Team and Enterprise an organization Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors.

    Authorization

    After you click Add, a sign-in window for the service opens. Sign in with your own account and approve access. Claude never sees your password.

    How to connect openchargemap-mcp-server to ChatGPT

    The server address to paste into ChatGPT settings:

    1. Open ChatGPT in a browser (chatgpt.com). A Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan is required.
    2. Turn on developer mode once: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode.
    3. Open Settings → Connectors and click Create.
    4. Fill in the form: Name (anything), Description (one line about what the service does), MCP server URL (copy it below).
    5. Under Authentication choose OAuth if the service requires sign-in, otherwise None. Click Create.
    6. In a new chat open + → Apps/Connectors and enable the connector.

    OpenAI has renamed this section before (Connectors → Apps/Plugins). If the label differs, search settings for "developer mode". On Business/Enterprise workspaces an admin must allow custom connectors first.

    Authorization

    On first use ChatGPT opens the service's sign-in window. Sign in and approve access.

    Manually:

    1. In Cursor open Settings → Cursor Settings → MCP and click Add new global MCP server.
    2. Paste the JSON copied below into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (per project: .cursor/mcp.json in the repo root).
    3. Save the file. The server appears in the MCP list; authorize it there if asked.

    openchargemap_find_stationsFind EV charging stations from the global Open Charge Map registry near a point or within a bounding box. Provide either a center (latitude + longitude + distance) or a boundingbox; optionally scope to a country with countrycode. This tool is coordinate-native and does not geocode place names — resolve a place like "Ballard, Seattle" to coordinates with openstreetmap_geocode first, then pass them here. Filter by connector type, minimum power (kW), operator/network, usage type (public/free/membership), charge level, operational status, and minimum charge points. Filter IDs are integers — resolve a connector or network name to its ID with openchargemap_lookup_reference (e.g. "CCS" -> 33). Each result includes title, address, distance from the search point, connections (type, power, count), operator, access rules, registry operational status, and the last-verified date. Results come back one page at a time: when a page reports truncated, repeat the same search with the reported nextOffset to read the next one.
    openchargemap_get_stationGet the full record for one Open Charge Map station by its numeric OCM ID. Returns every connection (type, level, power, current, quantity, per-connection status), the operator and network, usage and access restrictions (pay-at-location, membership, access key), the number of charge points, general comments, usage cost, the data provider, media, and verification recency. Set includeComments to also return community check-ins inline.
    openchargemap_lookup_referenceResolve Open Charge Map reference data to the integer IDs that openchargemap_find_stations filters require. Pick a category and pass a name or code to resolve — "CCS" or "Tesla Supercharger" -> a connectiontypeid, "ChargePoint" -> an operatorid, "Public - Pay At Location" -> a usagetypeid, "France" or "FR" -> a country. Omit the query to browse the whole category. Large categories come back one page at a time: when a page reports truncated, repeat the call with the reported nextOffset to read the next one.
    openchargemap_get_station_commentsRead community check-ins and comments for one Open Charge Map station — the real-world reliability signal beyond the operator-reported registry status. Returns user comments and fault reports with ratings, dates, and the outcome the driver recorded ("Charged Successfully", "Failed to Charge (Equipment Not Operational)", …), alongside the station's current registry status and last-verified date, surfacing mismatches like "listed operational, but the last few check-ins report a fault." A busy station's check-ins come back one page at a time: when a page reports truncated, repeat the call with the reported nextOffset to read the next one.
