    How to connect mileage-log to Claude

    The server address to paste into Claude settings:

    1. Open Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app).
    2. Go to Settings → Connectors.
    3. Click Add custom connector.
    4. Paste the server address copied below into Remote MCP server URL and click Add.
    5. In a chat, click + → Connectors and switch the new connector on.

    Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans (Free is limited to one). On Team and Enterprise an organization Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors.

    Authorization

    After you click Add, a sign-in window for the service opens. Sign in with your own account and approve access. Claude never sees your password.

    How to connect mileage-log to ChatGPT

    The server address to paste into ChatGPT settings:

    1. Open ChatGPT in a browser (chatgpt.com). A Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan is required.
    2. Turn on developer mode once: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode.
    3. Open Settings → Connectors and click Create.
    4. Fill in the form: Name (anything), Description (one line about what the service does), MCP server URL (copy it below).
    5. Under Authentication choose OAuth if the service requires sign-in, otherwise None. Click Create.
    6. In a new chat open + → Apps/Connectors and enable the connector.

    OpenAI has renamed this section before (Connectors → Apps/Plugins). If the label differs, search settings for "developer mode". On Business/Enterprise workspaces an admin must allow custom connectors first.

    Authorization

    On first use ChatGPT opens the service's sign-in window. Sign in and approve access.

    Fastest: click Open in Cursor below and confirm the prompt.

    Manually:

    1. In Cursor open Settings → Cursor Settings → MCP and click Add new global MCP server.
    2. Paste the JSON copied below into ~/.cursor/mcp.json (per project: .cursor/mcp.json in the repo root).
    3. Save the file. The server appears in the MCP list; authorize it there if asked.

    Raw names from tools/list. Only developers need these.

    trip_addLog one drive in the mileage log: the date, where from and to, the distance in miles or km, the purpose, and the category (business, medical, moving, charitable, personal). Returns its TR-YYYY-NNNN id. Free tier: 20 trips per calendar month, counted on the month of the trip date.
    trip_listList trips in the mileage log, oldest first: date, from, to, distance, category, and the amount each earns under the rate in force on its day (or the plain reason it is unpriced). Filter by date range and category. Reads only.
    trip_removeRemove one trip from the mileage log by its exact TR-YYYY-NNNN id, for entries made by mistake. The id is not reissued: a gap in the TR series is the record that a trip was removed.
    rate_setSet what one mile or km is worth for one category in one jurisdiction from a date forward: the jurisdiction label, the category, the rate per unit, the currency, and the date it takes effect. Rates form a series per jurisdiction and category, and each trip earns the rate in force on the day it was driven. No rate ships with this server; the figures are yours to verify. Free tier: one rate per jurisdiction and category; the year-over-year series is Pro.
    rate_listList every mileage rate on file, grouped by jurisdiction and category with the effective-from dates in order: the series each trip is priced from. Reads only.
    mileage_summaryThe deductible mileage for a date range, per category: trips, distance kept per unit, the rate each trip earned (the one in force on its day), and the deductible amount, totalled per currency. Trips with no applicable rate are listed with the reason, not silently dropped. Defaults to the current calendar year. Never metered.
    mileage_exportThe mileage log as CSV, one row per trip, oldest first: date, from, to, distance, unit, category, the rate applied (the one in force on the trip's day), the currency and the amount, plus purpose, jurisdiction, effective_from and id. The amount column is a bare number a spreadsheet reads. Refuses while any non-personal trip in the window is unpriced, so an accountant never receives a log with silent gaps. Pro.
    license_statusReport this endpoint's licence state for your token as JSON: the product, the tier free or pro, why it is not Pro, and the checkout URL. Call it to explain a free-tier refusal. No arguments, nothing changes.
    license_activateTurn Pro on for this connection with key, an MCPL1.<payload>.<signature> issued at checkout for this server or the bundle. Data under your token stays; a wrong or expired key changes nothing. license_status confirms it.
