Free, read-only MCP server of kanari.io: live worldwide wildfire detections (NASA FIRMS, GOES, Meteosat MTG, 10-minute refresh) with AI-verified witness reports, archive of every significant fire since 2026-08-03 with permanent pages, citable statistics per country and month, firefighting aircraft in flight (ADS-B) and measured earliness over press coverage. Tools: active_fires, fire_archive_search, fire_details, wildfire_stats, firefighting_aircraft, earliness_cases. No key. Data CC BY 4.0, credit kanari.io. Not an official alert channel: in an emergency call 112 / 911.

How to connect kanari wildfires to Claude

The server address to paste into Claude settings:

  1. Open Claude (claude.ai or the desktop app).
  2. Go to Settings → Connectors.
  3. Click Add custom connector.
  4. Paste the server address copied below into Remote MCP server URL and click Add.
  5. In a chat, click + → Connectors and switch the new connector on.

Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans (Free is limited to one). On Team and Enterprise an organization Owner adds the connector first under Organization settings → Connectors.

Authorization

After you click Add, a sign-in window for the service opens. Sign in with your own account and approve access. Claude never sees your password.

How to connect kanari wildfires to ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT in a browser (chatgpt.com). A Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise or Edu plan is required.
  2. Turn on developer mode once: Settings → Apps → Advanced settings → Developer mode.
  3. Open Settings → Connectors and click Create.
  4. Fill in the form: Name (anything), Description (one line about what the service does), MCP server URL (copy it below).
  5. Under Authentication choose OAuth if the service requires sign-in, otherwise None. Click Create.
  6. In a new chat open + → Apps/Connectors and enable the connector.

OpenAI has renamed this section before (Connectors → Apps/Plugins). If the label differs, search settings for "developer mode". On Business/Enterprise workspaces an admin must allow custom connectors first.

Authorization

On first use ChatGPT opens the service's sign-in window. Sign in and approve access.

How to connect kanari wildfires to Cursor

Each cluster: position, first/last satellite pass (UTC), detections per sensor, peak fire radiative power (MW), confidence (possible | probable | corrobore = cross-checked with witnesses).
fire_archive_searchSearch kanari's archive of significant wildfires (since 2026-08-03): by ISO-2 country, date range or month, minimum detections or power, status. Each result has a permanent page URL (kanari.io/fr/feu/<slug>). Use for 'what fires happened in <country> in <month>', 'biggest fires this week', 'is the fire near X still active'.
fire_detailsFull record of an archived fire by its slug (from fire_archive_search or a kanari.io/fr/feu/<slug> URL): timeline, detections per sensor, peak power, status, witness posts, first press article, aircraft observed on zone.
wildfire_statsAggregated figures from kanari's archive for a period (today, 7d, 30d, a calendar month, or all since 2026-08-03), worldwide or for one ISO-2 country: number of significant fires, active ones, fires with witnesses or aircraft, peak power, daily series, most affected countries and French departments, biggest fires with URLs. Includes a ready-to-cite sentence with the source.
firefighting_aircraftNear real-time ADS-B positions of water bombers and firefighting helicopters worldwide (Canadair CL-415/CL-215, Air Tractor Fire Boss, DC-10 / BAe 146 tankers, S-64 Air Crane, Firehawk…). Optional ISO-2 filter on the aircraft's country of registration. Aircraft fly in daylight: expect few results at night.
earliness_casesDocumented cases (rolling 72 h) where kanari's first satellite signal preceded the first press article about the same fire: place, both UTC timestamps and the lead in minutes, plus the median. This is the measured basis for 'kanari sees fires before the media'. It says nothing about a lead over emergency services.
